On Monday, all of year 3 and 4 had a great day out at The REP theatre in Birmingham.

The children have all been working extremely hard and put in so much effort over the past 6 weeks to create and produce their own plays.

Two of the best written plays were chosen by Mel the workshop leader to be performed at the theatre.

The play "Catman" written and produced by Muhammad, Macey, Hamza, Kamari, Tanvi and Mustafa all performed their play to their friends at the theatre.

The play "Destruction" written by Kanan, Harrison, Carla, Helena, Amatullah and Ismailwas performed by professional actors.

Anti-bullying week

Last week, was anti-bullying week and each class was paired with another class. We were lucky to be paired with both 1.3 and 5.3. 15 children swapped and went to the buddy class and we all did different activities about how to stop bullying.

In 3.3 we learnt a song about our rights and we did role-played different scenarios. We also worked in groups to find out what children need and want. We also did a class "stamp" to stamp out bullying and made a noise about it.

Here we are working with the older children in year 5

Below are photos of our class stamp

Artists in 3.3

Yesterday all the children in 3.3 became artists as we made our puppets for the Toy Theatre. We had a fantastic artist called Jim who helped us to make and decorate our puppets. The children had to work in their groups to create the theatres and the 3 different scenes. Jim also taught us some sign language which was fantastic!

In today's, celebration assembly the winner of the Science competition was announced and in 3.3 the winner was Thea.

Muhammad and Hamza also received a certificate for their beautiful silhouette painting of the Homefront in WW1

Well done to Thea, Muhammad and Hamza! ☺️

All the children in Year 3 also sang a song about the evacuee children in the war and performed it to the year 4.

World War 1 workshops

This week we have been learning about World War 1 and what life was like on the Homefront. Year 3 had the amazing opportunity of taking part in workshops  which involved acting and learning about what happened to the children during the war.

Toy theatre project.

This week, we have had a special visitor called Holly come to 3.3  from The Rep Theatre in Birmingham. Holly and her friend Mel will be helping us to write our own plays and then we will go to The Rep Theatre when all the sessions finished.

Today, was our first session and we played lots of fun games which included us using different voices and actions. We also made a start on our plays and muddled up the letters in our own names to come up with character names for our play.

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Brindley Place Trip

On Thursday 15th October, all of 3.3 went on a bus tour of Birmingham City linked to the Geography work we have been doing in the afternoons. The trip helped us to learn more about the history and the heritage of our city.

We first went to Brindley place where we enjoyed looking at the historic canals and the narrow boats  which were once a very important part of the city.

Then we walked through the city and visited the new Library, Victoria square and other iconic buildings. We then had lunch at the BMAG and visited the different galleries showcasing the cities important features.

We all had a fantastic time and really enjoyed about the history of our city.

Celebration assembly

On Friday it was our very first celebration assembly in Year 3.

Mrs. Williams presented all the awards to the chosen children.

In 3.3 the two fantastic children chosen were Carla-Louise Gaskin and James-Junior Taggart.

Carla has shown great understanding in Guided Reading whilst reading our class book, Barney the Boatdog.

However, James was chosen for his exceptional manners and always being polite.

Also, Amaan and Helena received there awards for having the best fact-files about Queen Elizabeth II.

Well done to these children!

Tunes Times Table!

In Maths today we had so much fun learning our 3 times tables. A special visitor called Mr NK, came in and he taught us how to remember our times-tables using rapping and singing. We all joined in and had a go!

Longest reigning Queen!

Last Wednesday Queen Elizabeth II became Britain's longest reigning monarch, overtaking in length the reign of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. To mark this special occasion, 3.3 did lots of research and learnt all about her. The children then created fact-files about the queen which were all extremely well written.

However, there were two exceptionally well written fact-files by Helena and Amaan. These two children will receive a special medal as a prize.

Well done to Helena and Amaan.

Our first week in 3.3!

We have had a fantastic first week back in our new class. Ms. Uddin and the Year 3 teaching staff have all been extremely impressed with how well the children have adjusted and adapted to Key Stage 2. In English, we have been looking at the picture book Flotsam and we had to order the pictures from the book and write about the journey of the camera.

In Maths, we have been doing lots of mental maths work and the afternoons have been P.H.S.E based. We looked at our class rules and what makes a good classmate.
